Each year, children enter the foster care system due to abuse and neglect. In 2023, 301 children in the Concho Valley had a Court Appointed Special Advocate by their side. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc. (CAC) is an umbrella organization consisting of six programs including Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA. CASA Volunteers advocate for the best interests of children who have been abused or neglected and whose home will be determined by a court of law. The CASA Volunteer stands beside the child throughout their journey to provide comfort, love, stability, and help guide the child to a safe and permanent home.

Our CASA volunteers are ordinary people from all walks of life, ages, and ethnic groups who do the extraordinary by making a difference in the life of a child. CASA Volunteers are not required to have any previous training or educational background. CAC develops, trains, and educates CASA Volunteers on how to advocate for the child and ensure their voice is heard. “CASA Volunteers are vital to our program and the children in foster care in our community. Many children in the Concho Valley need a CASA Volunteer to give them individualized, concentrated attention” says Rachel Wright, Director of CASA.

The CAC will host the next CASA Volunteer Training Class beginning March 11, 2024. To sign up for this training, please contact Cassie Roberts at 325-653-HOPE or email croberts@cacgreaterwtx.org.

Every child has a story, and it is our responsibility as a community to do all we can to ensure each chapter of their life is brighter and more prosperous, even in the midst of their journey through foster care. We hope you will join us to help change a child’s life. Their next chapter starts here!
