Hispanic Heritage Month First Annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration

    Duration: 23:08
    Air Dates: November 7, 2020, 8am; November 8, 2020, 8 p.m.

Guest: Suzanna Valenzuela, Board President of Railway Museum of San Angelo & Vice President of San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Committee

Valenzuela provides a review of events during Hispanic Heritage Month, including their first Annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration and the 1st Annual Dia de los Muertos 5k / 1 Mile Walk / Run. All proceeds from the events will help to fund construction of a Hispanic Heritage Museum and Cultural Center in Downtown San Angelo.

The Hispanic Heritage Committee has teamed with the Railway Museum of San Angelo for a Youth FaceMask giveaway, intended to provide disadvantaged youth with protection from Covid 19 now that schools are back open in person. The Committee has 2500 masks to give away, including lanyards to serve as storage so the children don’t lose the masks. The first 75 children will also receive free admission to the Railway Museum. The event takes place Saturday, November 14th from 10am – 4pm at the Railway Museum of San Angelo. Masks will be provided on a first come first served basis.

In closing, Valenzuela provides a preview of Santa’s arrival at the Museum on Saturday, December 5th, and the full day celebration that’s planned to welcome him, including vendor booths, food trucks, and free – socially distanced – photos with Santa.
